As I mentioned in the last post on this subject the Perl Foundation will attempt to be a participating organisation in this year’s Google Summer of Code and is seeking your help. We are using the Enlightened Perl Organisation‘s MojoMojo blog, there is already a Perl and GSoC main page for this year’s participation and general information, and an Ideas page for projects for students to work on this year.

We are currently working on the proposal to be accepted as a mentoring organisation.

As last year we are seeking your help in getting the message out about the summer of code and participating in it as a student or mentor. We have prepared some flyers that are available on the Perl Foundation’s Press Release page and you can download, print and distribute them. If you would like to work with Mark on translating these into a local language for spreading the word to more communities then please contact us as soon as possible.

There are three flyers available, a Home Office/Home print version, a print with bleed version (full colour) and a second flyer suitable for almost all printers.

Call for Students and Mentors

At this point we will also start asking potential students and mentors to start signing up by making themselves heard in the #soc-help channel on Very soon there will be a new flyer and marketing material for this year’s effort and I hope people will volunteer to pin them up in schools and colleges or translate them into their own language, if you are interested in helping with this contact Rafl or Mark.
