My Ironman Status
Some of you reading this blog will know that it is part of the Ironman Blogging challenge which is supported by the Enlightened Perl Organisation.
What you may or may not know is that I am currently in charge of creating the graphics for that competition. I created the badges – soon to be next to all competitors and I have now created a couple of banners that you are free to use on any site you so wish with the appropriate links.
Link to: http://ironman.enlightenedperl.org/signup/new_feed
Link to: http://ironman.enlightenedperl.org
Either right click and save the image or drag and drop. If you need an absolute link to the image to use a linked image on a site then use:
http://enlightenedperl.org/images/ironsignup.png (top banner)
http://enlightenedperl.org/images/ppi01-banner.png (bottom banner)
Take. Enjoy. Use. Have fun.

How sure are you that once things get publicised a bit more you won’t get sued by Marvel or something?

mdk,
Thanks for the fun images! I have them all listed in this post:
http://www.lowlevelmanager.com/2009/08/perl-iron-man-rules.html
Have you found backup or recreated the two missing female badges?
It looks like we’re missing stone and bronze women.When you do, kick Matt and get them uploaded!
Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, I posted them in a blog post a couple of weeks ago. See: http://mdk.per.ly/2009/09/03/ironman-competition-badges/ . I also set up permanant links to them on the SC site so that people can link to/use them at will. Hope that helps :)

Well one cannot be one hundred percent sure, but not specifically shouting M*rvel and now D*sney would help :) Actually I am kind of hoping that because we are not trying to be:
1. Competitive in creating a super hero comic or product;
2. Not attempting to deride or be derogatory;
3. Not claiming that we have original usage of the words or the notion of an iron man;
4. Not using it to promote a rival company in a similar field;
5. Using original artwork (I didn’t scan/trace or otherwise copy by facsimile or other electronic means the images I recreated them from images widely available as a homage not an attempt to breach original artist/company ownership);
7. Use them in association with a not-for-profit company
With that in mind I would hope that it would serve no purpose to litigate, but I am not a lawyer and sometimes people can get overly protective of this sort of thing, I guess I just hope that we don’t get sued. But I do accept that I was thinking of the Marvel character when I drew the original artwork, but the female is pretty much my own. I guess the BBC could get heated about the Cyberman and whomever owns the film rights aggrieved at the Tin Man images I placed in my other post, but they may have less of a case, who can say.
